In a groundbreaking initiative, twenty Ugandans are set to undergo corrective surgeries from October 13 to 16, thanks to the collaborative efforts of C-Care, formerly known as International Hospital Kampala (IHK), and Egypt’s prestigious Andalusia medical facility. This endeavor follows the successful completion of the first round of surgeries last week, totaling seven, which concluded on September 20. In total, this initiative is poised to deliver 27 life-changing surgeries between September and October.

The selection of these twenty individuals for corrective surgeries was the result of meticulous consultations held at the C-Care Plastic Surgery Clinic in Kampala. Dr. Miriam Mutero Musinga, General Manager of C-Care (IHK), expressed her profound appreciation for the achievements of this partnership, emphasizing the positive impact it has on Ugandans’ access to world-class surgical procedures.

Dr. Musinga stated, “Through such strategic partnerships, we have acquired the capability to offer efficient world-class surgical procedures to Ugandans, thereby saving patients substantial amounts in travel and accommodation expenses that they would otherwise incur when seeking treatment abroad.”

Dr. William Lubega, a Plastic Surgeon at C-Care Uganda, hailed this pioneering initiative, highlighting that the success of the first plastic surgery camp underscores the fact that Ugandans no longer need to travel abroad for procedures that can be expertly performed within their home country.

Dr. Lubega noted, “Equipped with state-of-the-art operating theaters and a team of expert professionals, Ugandans can now readily access international-quality plastic surgical services, all while staying within their budget.”

He further observed that the trend is changing, and patients seeking such procedures are no longer primarily referred overseas, thanks to the capabilities of C-Care.

Building on the resounding success of the inaugural Plastic Surgery Camp, C-Care and Andalusia Egypt have plans to host another camp in October 2023. This extended opportunity aims to make cost-effective plastic surgery healthcare accessible to even more Ugandans.

During consultations with the highly skilled surgeons from C-Care and Andalusia Egypt, patients received valuable advice on an array of corrective and cosmetic surgery procedures. These encompassed keloid removal, testicular cancer removal, body contouring, liposuction, lipofilling, varicocele treatment, cleft lip correction, kidney stone removal, urology, and abdominoplasty, a cosmetic surgical procedure aimed at enhancing the appearance of the abdomen.

C-Care Uganda, the country’s largest private healthcare network, has joined forces with Andalusia, a renowned specialist private healthcare provider in Egypt, to create a transformative healthcare partnership in Uganda. This initiative not only improves access to life-changing surgeries but also reflects the growing capabilities of Uganda’s healthcare sector in delivering top-tier medical services to its citizens.
