During the Data Protection and Privacy CEO Conference held in Kampala, Uganda’s Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, announced that the government is actively working on a new AI policy. He revealed that a dedicated national task force would be appointed soon to guide this process, emphasizing the need for swift action to keep pace with global technological advancements.

The upcoming policy will create a regulatory framework that encourages responsible tech innovation, safeguards data privacy, and positions Uganda to benefit from the global AI revolution.
