Police have confirmed the arrest of two individuals in connection with cattle theft in Kapelebyong District. The suspects, Moses Ojakala and Ben Olupot, are currently held at Kapelebyong Central Police Station as authorities continue their investigations.

According to Karamoja Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, the duo was apprehended during a joint security operation. They were found in possession of four stolen bulls, which security forces recovered at Adipala Cattle Market.

“The suspects were intercepted by joint security forces while in possession of the stolen animals,” Longole stated.

These arrests are part of ongoing operations aimed at tackling livestock theft, a persistent issue in the Karamoja region. Livestock theft continues to contribute to insecurity and significant economic losses in parts of the region.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to protecting the property of Ugandans, issuing a warning against engaging in cattle theft and related crimes. They emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining safety and security.

Police also urged the public to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious activities, and work together with security agencies to build safer communities for all.
