The Wakiso Chief Magistrate’s Court has officially charged three men — Ibrahim Ssejjombwe, Allan Kyeyune, and Joseph Musoke — in connection with a violent Wakiso land eviction that left widespread destruction in Bukasa, Busiro County. The suspects are accused of storming private property armed with pangas and sticks, destroying buildings, and forcibly removing occupants without a court order.
Charges and Court Proceedings
Prosecutors told the court that the accused face multiple counts including forcible entry, malicious damage to property, theft, and illegal eviction. They allegedly led a group of armed men who invaded land located on Block 314, Plot 846, Busiro, between January and October 2025. The trio was remanded until November 19, 2025, pending further investigation.
The disputed land belongs to Dr. Paul Biriibwa and Peter Biriibwa, who have lawfully occupied the property for over two decades. According to court documents, the attackers demolished residential houses for workers, animal shelters, banana and coffee plantations, solar panels, and even a 40-foot storage container.
Authorities Condemn Rising Land Violence
Investigators revealed that the accused failed to produce documentation to justify their claims as bibanja holders, while the complainants presented a registered land title issued in 2001. Authorities condemned the suspects for executing the eviction without legal authorization, calling it a blatant violation of Uganda’s land and property laws.
Land Conflicts on the Rise
The incident highlights the growing number of violent land disputes in Wakiso District, one of Uganda’s fastest-growing urban areas. Increasing land speculation, fraudulent sales, and overlapping tenure systems have fueled tensions, leading to frequent evictions and violent confrontations.
Officials urged residents to resolve land disagreements through lawful means, emphasizing that no eviction should be carried out without a valid court order.
