Jinja City, Kiira Region – In a tragic turn of events, Rogers Kifubangabo, 32, the son of Mr. Michael Kifubangabo, the Information Minister in Busoga Kingdom and a respected teacher at Jinja Senior Secondary School, was found dead on Sunday night in the crime-ridden area of Budhumbuli in Bugembe, Jinja North Division. The incident has sparked an intense investigation by the local police.
According to Mr. James Mubi, the spokesperson for Kiira Region Police, Rogers Kifubangabo was discovered lifeless just meters away from his residence in Bugembe. His body was found lying in a pool of blood with visible cuts around his neck. The police suspect foul play and theorize that he was murdered on Sunday night. This shocking incident has once again brought attention to the security concerns in the area.
Bugembe, which was also the site of the tragic stabbing death of weightlifter Prossy Nyanga in September of last year, has been identified as a crime-ridden neighborhood plagued by insecurity. In response to this, the police have initiated an investigation, aided by the surveillance footage captured by CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity. They assure the public that the culprits responsible for this heinous act will be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.
Mr. Mubi revealed that the police detectives are actively pursuing leads suggesting the involvement of local political leaders and landlords in fostering insecurity in certain areas of Jinja City. These individuals are suspected of harboring criminals under the guise of being their voters. Such claims require careful investigation to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
Expressing his grief and anguish, Mr. Kifubangabo, the Information Minister, appealed to the police to spare no effort in uncovering the truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice. The loss of his son has left a void in their lives, and they seek closure through a thorough investigation and the delivery of justice.
Rogers Kifubangabo is survived by his widow and three children, who are now left to bear the immense pain of losing their loved one. The funeral service for the deceased will be held on Wednesday in Nagweni village, Bulopa sub-county, Kamuli district, where he will be laid to rest.
In a tragic coincidence, the murder of Rogers Kifubangabo follows closely on the heels of another shocking incident. Hajji Hamza Ngobi, a prominent businessman from Mayuge District, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants just one day prior. These recent incidents have shaken the local communities and raised concerns about the security situation in the region.
As the investigations unfold, the people of Jinja City and the surrounding areas hope that the police will swiftly apprehend the culprits behind these senseless acts of violence. They call for enhanced security measures and a concerted effort to address the underlying issues contributing to the prevailing insecurity in the region. The loss of precious lives in such tragic circumstances serves as a stark reminder that more needs to be done to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents of Jinja City and its suburbs.
