In a spectacular demonstration of national pride and optimism, President Yoweri Museveni orchestrated the opening ceremony of the newly renovated Hamz Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala, Uganda. This significant event signals a new era for Ugandan sports and underscores the remarkable progress led by local business titan, Hamis Kiggundu.

Affectionately known as Ham, Kiggundu received accolades from President Museveni for his innovative approach and commitment to advancing the nation. The president specifically noted the stadium’s crucial role in enhancing Uganda’s international sports image and stimulating economic growth.

President Museveni remarked, “The Hamz Nakivubo Stadium is a beacon of the strength and ambition of Ugandan enterprises. The dedication of Hamis Kiggundu to realize this ambitious project is extraordinary,” while also committing to support Kiggundu’s upcoming ventures, including the Ham Agro Processing Industries which are expected to bolster the agricultural sector.

Through his efforts, Kiggundu significantly altered the stadium from its previously dilapidated state to a leading-edge sports arena. It now boasts improved spectator capacity, cutting-edge sports facilities, and a business district designed to fund additional sports and community development projects.

At the event, Kiggundu expressed, “This place is more than just a venue for sports; it is a center for community and youth empowerment. Our objective is to cultivate talent and open up opportunities well beyond athletic pursuits.”
