President Yoweri Museveni has reiterated his faith in Hamis Kiggundu, the proprietor of Ham Enterprises to finish the job of reconstructing Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium.
President Museveni speaking at State House Entebbe, were together with the First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni hosted 400 sportspeople, officials and teachers to a luncheon, described Hamis Kiggundu as an enterprising young Ugandan businessman.

“We are going to start building Akii Bua Stadium and another in Kabarole. In the long run, all the traditional 18 sub-regions of Uganda will get a stadium each. Nakivubo Stadium is also being rehabilitated by an enterprising young Ugandan businessman,” the President told the gathering.
This kind of attribution, according to sources close to President Museveni, is a guarantee that the country’s leader still has faith in Hamis Kiggundu who as part of the deal to modernize Nakivubo Stadium has developed Nakivubo place nearing Owino with modern state of the art shopping malls.

This means that football and other major sporting activities will return to Nakivubo Stadium when the memorial sports facility has been transformed into an international infrastructure. Then, the stadium will be able to host national teams when they engage in international sporting activities especially football.
Many Ugandans look at Nakivubo as a national symbol and await to see what magic Ham Enterprises will unveil once it puts its hands off it; when all the construction works being undertaken with partnership with a team from Roko construction have been completed. Already many jobs have been created through business startups at malls built around the stadium. Lives are being transformed.

The malls rented out to city traders make a rig around the stadium which is being reconstructed by Roko. Perhaps what has been the main worry has been the delay but Hamis Kiggundu is on record saying quality work takes time and he wants to present to Ugandans a stadium that they will be proud of.
The President also promised to personally follow up on the issue of delays to complete Teryet High Altitude Training Centre. “I do not buy the explanation that the rains are responsible for these delays and yet money is available. I think some unscrupulous people are intentionally delaying this project.” President Museveni remarked.
