A fatal accident is currently under investigation by the Police at Kira Road. The incident occurred today at Kayunga Road Junction along Acacia Avenue and involved multiple vehicles, resulting in the loss of innocent lives.

According to reports, the accident took place at approximately 01:26 hours. Mr. Kimera Faziru of Buwate was driving a black Mercedes-Benz with registration number UBL 189R at high speed from the Acacia side. Regrettably, Mr. Faziru lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the Kayunga junction. The car collided with the road barriers, tragically striking three street children seeking shelter there. Subsequently, the Mercedes-Benz continued its trajectory and collided with a white Toyota Mark X, registration number UBF 788K, which was approaching from the Mulago side.

Immediate action was taken following the incident, with the injured victims promptly transported to Mulago Hospital. Unfortunately, two of the pedestrians succumbed to their injuries. The involved vehicles, the black Mercedes-Benz and the white Toyota Mark X have been impounded at Kira Road Police Station for further inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles.

All drivers involved in the accident were also transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the families and friends who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. The Uganda Police Force is fully committed to conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

We strongly urge all road users to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and comply with traffic regulations. Ensuring safety on our roads is of utmost importance, and it is the responsibility of every individual to contribute to creating a secure environment for everyone.

As soon as new information becomes available, we will provide updates on the progress of the investigation.
