National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has raised serious allegations against the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among. Kyagulanyi accuses her of organizing attacks on his campaign team in Bukedea District. He made these claims during an early morning media briefing on Saturday.
Allegations of Intimidation and Violence
Before continuing his final campaign engagements in Ngora and Bukedea, Kyagulanyi expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received in the Teso sub-region. “We thank the people of Teso for the love, the embrace, and the support, regardless of the tear gas, roadblocks, and inconveniences we have endured,” Kyagulanyi said.
He informed the public about a planned disruption orchestrated by Speaker Among. Kyagulanyi alleged that Among mobilized goons to attack his campaign, similar to previous incidents in Gulu. “Today we are heading to Ngora and Bukedea, but it is important to inform the nation that we have information indicating that Speaker Anita Among has organised goons to destabilise and attack us,” Kyagulanyi said.
Security Forces Accused of Intimidating Citizens
Kyagulanyi also accused the security forces escorting his convoy of failing to protect his team. Instead, he said they were intimidating citizens and even facilitating attacks by civilian groups. “The camera is our weapon. The truth is what we present to the people,” he stated. He encouraged journalists to remain vigilant and continue documenting these events.
As his convoy traveled toward Ngora, authorities blocked the main road leading to the Ngora massacre memorial site. Kyagulanyi was forced to take a different route via the Koloin–Ngora road. He linked the roadblocks to deliberate efforts to prevent him from visiting important historical sites like the Mukura Memorial.
Obstruction and Accusations Against NRM Supporters
In Ngora, Kyagulanyi was welcomed by a large crowd chanting “No cow, no vote.” He accused NRM supporters of blocking roads to prevent his campaign and avoid media coverage of sensitive sites. “The Electoral Commission knows I am scheduled to campaign in Ngora, but the road was blocked because they do not want cameras to show where Museveni killed our people,” he claimed.
During the rally, Kyagulanyi criticized President Museveni’s nearly 40-year rule, pointing to Ngora’s poor road infrastructure, dilapidated healthcare, and struggling schools. He further condemned the military, courts, and prisons, claiming these state institutions serve only one family’s interests.

Call for Change Ahead of January Election
Kyagulanyi called on Ugandans to vote for change in the upcoming January 15 election. He urged voters to focus on the country’s future, not individual leaders. He also introduced a young woman at the rally who claimed she had been fired from her job for supporting NUP and “speaking the truth.”
Later in the day, Kyagulanyi continued his campaign, despite heavy security. His convoy was blocked again from using the Ngora–Kumi road to Bukedea, forcing him to take a detour through rural routes. Despite the security challenges, Kyagulanyi pressed on with his campaign.
