As the countdown to Uganda’s January 15, 2026 general election continues, a significant milestone was reached with the arrival of electoral materials at the Jinja City Electoral Office. This marks a crucial step in the preparations for the much-anticipated voting exercise.

The Electoral Commission of Uganda, also Uganda Electoral Commission, is a constitutionally established organ of the Government of Uganda, whose mandate is to “organise and conduct regular, free and fair elections” in the country, in an efficient, professional and impartial manner.

The delivery of these materials was carried out with complete transparency, under the close supervision of key stakeholders. These included representatives from security agencies, media outlets, and various political parties. The Jinja City Returning Officer, Flavia Nakasi, emphasized that the timely arrival of the materials is part of the Electoral Commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth, transparent, and peaceful electoral process.

Nakasi confirmed that all electoral materials for the city’s 367 polling stations have been delivered. To ensure the utmost security, the materials will be kept in a highly secure location, under tight surveillance, until polling day. This move is aimed at preventing any unauthorized access prior to the voting process, ensuring that the election remains free from any irregularities.

With everything now in place, the Electoral Commission is poised to continue with its preparations, ensuring that Uganda’s voters can participate in the election in a fair and transparent manner.
