David FK Mpanga, Minister of Lands and Housing in Mengo, has enthusiastically praised the Buganda Land Board (BLB) for supporting the Kabaka Birthday Run 2025. Specifically, the event takes place on Sunday, April 6. Moreover, it will celebrate Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 70th birthday under the theme “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child.”
During a special ceremony, Minister Mpanga presented run kits to BLB Chief Executive Officer Simon Kaboggoza at Bulange on Thursday. Subsequently, he expressed joy over the board’s commitment to this annual tradition.
“I am so much overjoyed to hand these kits to the Buganda Land Board,” Mpanga stated. “Furthermore, they have confirmed participating in the Kabaka Birthday Run as the Kabaka celebrates 70 years of age.”
Additionally, Mpanga encouraged public participation in the event. In particular, he noted that run kits are available at multiple locations. “Let’s buy the kits, available here at Bulange, Airtel shops, and various outlets,” he urged.
Furthermore, the minister confirmed a special feature of this year’s event. “Consequently, Ssaabasajja Kabaka will flag off the run at Lubiri Mengo on Sunday, April 6,” Mpanga announced.
After receiving the kits, BLB CEO Kaboggoza spoke to media representatives. Above all, he emphasized that supporting the run is a core responsibility for his organization.
“It is our mandate as Kabaka’s servants under the Buganda Land Board to participate in this run,” Kaboggoza affirmed. “As a result, all our staff have received the kits. Therefore, we are ready to be there at Lubiri to join the Kabaka in the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic.”
Similarly, the CEO extended an invitation to tenants on Kabaka’s land. Hence, he encouraged them to show support through participation. “Meanwhile, I urge all occupants of Kabaka’s land to use this opportunity to support the Kingdom by getting kits for the run,” he stated.
This year’s Kabaka Birthday Run focuses on an important cause. In essence, it aims to mobilize men for health initiatives that protect vulnerable girls and young women. Consequently, proceeds from kit sales will fund health programs targeting girl child wellbeing and protection. Notably, these efforts specifically address HIV/AIDS prevention and support.
In conclusion, the theme “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child” highlights men’s critical role in public health. By uniting participants across the kingdom, organizers hope to create momentum against HIV/AIDS. Finally, the event also strengthens cultural bonds while celebrating the Kabaka’s 70th birthday.
