Africa’s young billionaire Hamis Kiggundu has confirmed the completion of the exterior façade of Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, which is expected to house various sports activities, including athletics, netball, bodybuilding, basketball, volleyball, and football.
The stadium is set to be a modern, state-of-the-art sports facility in Kampala and a legacy to develop the sports industry in Uganda.
The $200 million stadium project, which includes six restaurants, two 300-seat cinema halls, medical rooms, and referee rooms, among other facilities, had stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a prolonged lockdown and a high cost of production.
The stadium will have regular, VIP, and VVIP sections, as well as executive wings with 20 seats each and a range of amenities, including multi-level parking, gyms, and facilities for people with disabilities.
The stadium’s completion is eagerly anticipated by sports enthusiasts in Uganda, and it is expected to be one of the best sports facilities in Africa, meeting the standards set by FIFA.
