The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has issued an urgent alarm regarding the health of detained opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye. They report his condition has severely declined.

According to a PFF statement, Besigye was rushed late last night from Luzira Prison to a medical facility at Bugolobi Village Mall. He was transferred under heavy security. The party claims his situation is now dire.

“We have received credible reports that Dr. Besigye was rushed to a medical facility under heavy security,” the PFF stated. They sharply criticized the government, accusing it of denying Besigye his right to medical care and dignity.

Furthermore, the PFF holds the state fully responsible for his well-being. They are demanding immediate, unrestricted access for his personal doctors and family. The statement also calls for his release to receive proper care.

Dr. Besigye faces treason charges, which he and his supporters argue are politically motivated. His bail applications have been repeatedly denied, most recently in December 2025. Reports since late last year indicated his health was deteriorating, often appearing frail in court.

The PFF is urging the public to remain vigilant and advocate for his release. They pledged to provide further updates as the situation develops.
