Kabene’s Hat-Trick Crushes Kampala Queens’ Hopes in FUFA Women’s Cup Quarterfinal
St. Noa Girls School’s Sylivia Kabene delivered a breathtaking performance on Wednesday evening, scoring a hat-trick that sent Kampala Queens FC crashing out of the FUFA Women’s Cup in a dramatic 3-2 defeat at the Phillip Omondi Stadium.
The reigning FUFA Women Elite League champions, St. Noa, rallied from behind to secure their spot in the semifinals, thanks to Kabene’s brilliance and Kampala Queens’ defensive errors.
Queens Strike First, but Kabene Takes Over
Kampala Queens, favorites for a domestic double, initially seemed on course after Shamira Nalugya opened the scoring from the penalty spot and Zaina Nandede added a stunning solo goal just before halftime.
But Kabene had already begun her scoring run, having lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Gloria Namakula in the 22nd minute. After trailing 2-1 at the break, the striker leveled the game in the 57th minute, seizing on a defensive slip to calmly slot home her second goal.
As the game neared extra time, a final lapse from the Queens’ backline allowed Kabene to fire in the winner, completing her hat-trick and sparking wild celebrations from the St. Noa faithful.
St. Noa Eyes the Final
The victory dashed Kampala Queens’ hopes of winning both the league and cup this season. St. Noa Girls now prepare to face She Corporate in the semifinals.
The second semifinal clash will see Amus College WFC take on Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, with both first-leg fixtures set for June 4, 2025, and return legs scheduled four days later.https://www.tiktok.com/@fufatv1/video/7509497992374766870
