Ronald Makata, with over 17 years in the financial services sector, has been appointed as the new Chief Finance and Value Management Officer for Stanbic Bank Uganda. This significant appointment marks another milestone in his already distinguished career trajectory.
Makata’s journey in the financial sector commenced at Barclays Uganda (now Absa Uganda), where he ascended to the role of Manager, Financial Reporting. His tenure at Stanbic Bank, which began in 2013, witnessed his growth through various senior positions, showcasing his prowess in financial control, treasury management, banking solutions, and business transformation.
Throughout his career, Makata has led transformative initiatives that have left a profound impact on Stanbic Bank. He has notably reinforced robust financial controls across Africa, led pivotal business transformation projects, simplified client interactions, and spearheaded digitization efforts.
Anne Juuko, Stanbic Bank’s Chief Executive, lauded Makata’s appointment, highlighting his experience and dedication to nurturing young banking professionals. Makata expressed enthusiasm for his new role, emphasizing his commitment to operational efficiency, enhancing client experiences, and driving increased value for shareholders.
Makata’s educational background includes an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, complementing his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University. He holds esteemed certifications as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA). This blend of academic prowess and hands-on expertise positions Makata as a capable leader to navigate Stanbic Bank Uganda through the evolving financial landscape.
