Two senior Kamuli District officials were charged in the Anti-Corruption Court on Monday for allegedly embezzling over Shs600 million meant for roads. Chief Administrative Officer Nasser Mukiibi and Chief Finance Officer Alex Kifuuse face charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (Shacu) spearheaded the arrest. They collaborated with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
According to prosecutors, the crime occurred between May and June 2025. The funds were designated for rehabilitating the Nawanyago–Kisozi road. Investigators allege the officials approved irregular payments to multiple suppliers. These included Raven Knights Ltd, Total Uganda Limited, and District Engineer Mufumba Daniel.

However, a key discovery followed: the intended road works were never performed. “Although the money was fully spent, the intended road works were not done,” stated Shacu spokesperson Mariam Natasha. Consequently, the state deemed this a clear loss of public resources.
