This Friday, December 19, 2025, Nakivubo Stadium will host the Hamz Cup final—a thrilling clash between Kafumbe 1 and Arrows for a Shs50 million top prize. Fully backed by entrepreneur Hajji Hamis Kiggundu, the tournament has become a vital launchpad for young footballers across Kampala.

The competition has grown rapidly since its debut. Last year, only teams from Hamz’s Arcades participated, with Block G claiming victory and Shs20 million. This year, however, more than 40 teams from markets, taxi parks, and urban neighborhoods entered the fray. As a result, organizers doubled the prize pool to Shs100 million. Champions will take home Shs50 million, runners-up Shs25 million, third place Shs15 million, and fourth place Shs10 million.

Hakim Kasirye, the Hamz Cup coordinator, emphasized the event’s broader mission. “We’re ready for a spectacular final,” he said. “Hajji Hamis Kiggundu’s support ensures these young players get real opportunities. In fact, many have already joined topflight and Big League clubs. Additionally, we’ll reward the team with the most fans and individual stars who shine on the pitch.”

Kafumbe 1 earned their spot in the Hamz Cup final with pace, creativity, and tight teamwork. Meanwhile, Arrows advanced through resilience, smart defending, and clinical finishing. Because of their contrasting styles, Friday’s match promises drama, intensity, and moments of brilliance. At the same time, Pentagon and Kafumbe 2 will battle for third place—still competing for pride and a Shs15 million reward.

Nakivubo Stadium, recently revitalized, offers the perfect stage. With upgraded lighting and seating, it now mirrors the energy of professional arenas. Organizers expect a full stadium on Friday night. Fans will arrive early, drums in hand, ready to roar for their local heroes. Consequently, the atmosphere will be nothing short of electric.

More importantly, the Hamz Cup final is about more than football. It’s about second chances, visibility, and upward mobility. Hajji Hamis Kiggundu designed the tournament to give overlooked talent a spotlight—and it’s working. Already, scouts from top Ugandan clubs monitor matches closely. Several past participants now earn professional contracts, proving the tournament’s real-world impact.

As the city buzzes with anticipation, both finalists understand the stakes. For Kafumbe 1 and Arrows, this match could be life-changing. Yet win or lose, they’ve already lifted their communities. Ultimately, the Hamz Cup final celebrates not just skill, but hope, hustle, and the power of opportunity.

Indeed, under Nakivubo’s lights this Friday, Kampala’s future stars will take the field—and the nation will be watching.
