The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has ousted Mr. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, from his role as the party’s Chief Whip in Parliament. This move comes as the FDC finds itself engulfed in a maelstrom of internal discord, primarily fueled by allegations of improper financial dealings and a host of other contentious issues.
The decision to remove Ssemujju Nganda from his position was reached during a marathon session of the party’s top leadership, which extended late into the night on Sunday. Reports indicate that the meeting was marked by heated exchanges and fervent debates, underscoring the depth of the internal strife that the FDC is currently grappling with.
The straw that seemingly broke the camel’s back was the allegations surrounding “dirty money” within the party. While the FDC has long prided itself on its commitment to transparency and accountability, recent claims of undisclosed financial transactions have cast a shadow over its image. These allegations have only served to exacerbate existing tensions within the party and have prompted calls for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Ssemujju Nganda, who had been serving as the Chief Whip of the FDC in Parliament, was a prominent figure within the party and a staunch advocate for its core principles. His sudden removal has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with both party supporters and critics speculating about the underlying motivations behind this decision. Observers suggest that the dismissal may be a strategic move to demonstrate the party’s commitment to addressing the allegations head-on.
In a press statement released shortly after the announcement, FDC spokesperson Jane Anyango reiterated the party’s dedication to maintaining its integrity and addressing internal issues in a transparent manner. Anyango stated.
