Carib vehicle rams into the children, kills them instantly.

A speeding vehicle has knocked dead two children along the Hoima-Kikuube-Fort Portal road in Kikuube district.

The accident occurred near Buhimba town council in Kikuube district on Monday evening at around 4pm.

The Toyota Sprinter Carib vehicle registration number UBB 825A that knocked the two children dead was reportedly heading to Hoima city from Kikuube at the time it got involved in the accident.

It is alleged that the two children aged between 12 and 16 years whose identities were not readily available at the time when the accident occurred were riding on bicycle and tried to cross the road when the speeding vehicle rammed into them, killing them instantly.

Musa Mugisa, the LC3 chairperson Buhimba town council says the driver took off to a yet unknown destination after the accident and abandoned the vehicle at the scene of the crash.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says traffic police from Kikuube rushed to the accident scene and picked the lifeless bodies of the two children that were later taken to Kikuube health center IV pending postmortem.

According to Hakiza, preliminary police investigations show that the crash was caused due to speeding by the driver, adding that currently, they are hunting for the driver who is on the run.

He says traffic police towed the wreckage of the vehicle to Kikuube central police station. The crash comes barely three weeks after the Kikuube town council LC5 councilor Birari Nyakojo was killed in a fatal accident along the Hoima-Kikuube-Fort Portal road in Kikuube district.
