Airtel Uganda, a leading telecom company, has partnered with Transtel Uganda to offer eSIM-enabled devices on a hire-purchase basis to the public. Through this collaboration, Transtel, the official distributor of Samsung and Apple smartphones in the country, will provide eSIM-enabled devices to customers who wish to avail themselves through installment payments. This initiative aims to support Uganda’s digital transformation by introducing a new world of possibilities for users to connect, travel, and manage personal and business transactions on smartphones without the need for multiple physical SIM cards.

Airtel Uganda’s Marketing Director, Henry Njoroge, emphasized the range of eSIM-enabled models available, including the Samsung Galaxy S23, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. These devices can be acquired through installment payments, making them more accessible to a broader customer base.

It is noteworthy that Airtel Uganda recently became the first telecom operator in the country to introduce eSIM technology. ESIM, or embedded SIM, is a digital SIM card integrated directly into a device, allowing users to connect to any operator offering eSIM-enabled network services. With eSIM-compatible phones, users can switch between different providers without the need to physically swap SIM cards, providing greater convenience and flexibility.
